- These sharpening stones should be lubricated prior to each use using a light machine oil
- Heavy oils tend to load the surface and reduce the effectiveness of the stone
- When sharpening move the tool being sharpened in a wide figure 8 motion across the face of the stone
- This action will give a consistant edge to the tool and prevent the stone from wearing unevenly
- Should the stone surface become clogged or loaded then it should be cleaned with kerosine or a stiff fibre brush
